theodp writes "New York City is reportedly paying 230 consultants an average annual salary of $400K for a computer project that is seven years behind schedule and vastly over budget. The payments continue despite Mayor Bloomberg's admission that the computerized timekeeping and payroll system mdash; dubbed CityTime mdash; is 'a disaster.' Eleven CityTime consultants rake in more than $600K annually, with three of them making as much as $676,000. The 40 highest-paid people on the project bill taxpayers at least $500K a year. Some of the consultants have been working at these rates for as long as a decade."pa href="http://www.facebook.com/sharer.php?u=http%3A%2F%2Fnews.slashdot.org%2Fstor y%2F10%2F03%2F27%2F1228219%2FNYC-Drops-722M-On-CityTime-Attendance-System" target="_blank" title="Share on Facebook"img src="http://a.fsdn.com/sd/facebook_icon_large.png"/a a href="http://twitter.com/home?status=NYC+Drops+%24722M+On+CityTime+Attendan ce+System%3A+http%3A%2F%2Fbit.ly%2FcnEb4v" target="_blank" title="Share on Twitter"img src="http://a.fsdn.com/sd/twitter_icon_large.png"/a/ppa href="http://news.slashdot.org/story/10/03/27/1228219/NYC-Drops-722M-On-CityTime-Attendance-System?from=rss"Read more of this story/a at Slashdot./ppa href="http://feedads.g.doubleclick.net/~at/K-swjbu0hL5k-JGB-rUUB70ob0U/0/da"img src="http://feedads.g.doubleclick.net/~at/K-swjbu0hL5k-JGB-rUUB70ob0U/0/di" border="0" ismap="true"/img/abr/a href="http://feedads.g.doubleclick.net/~at/K-swjbu0hL5k-JGB-rUUB70ob0U/1/da"img src="http://feedads.g.doubleclick.net/~at/K-swjbu0hL5k-JGB-rUUB70ob0U/1/di" border="0" ismap="true"/img/a/pimg src="http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/Slashdot/slashdotDevelopers/~4/K4XOGWAvTws" height="1" width="1"/
