2009-08-06: The XML Core Working Group has published the Third Edition of Namespaces in XML as W3C Proposed Edited Recommendation. XML Namespaces provide a simple method for qualifying element and attribute names used in Extensible Markup Language documents by associating them with namespaces identified by URI references.
